Recipe provided by Lisa C. "I love when I find an easy recipe that tastes so good! These are great common ingredients that you would mostly have on hand to put together on one of those crazy nights! Serve with crunchy bread and enjoy!"


  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 pound tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil
  • 1 26 ounce jar pasta sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups half and half
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Heat olive oil in a large stock pot over medium high heat.
  2. Removed the sausage from casings and crumble into the pan. Cook and stir, breaking up the sausage in the pan as you go.
  3. When sausage is browned, stir in the pasta sauce, water and half and half.
  4. Bring to a boil and add tortellini. Continue boiling gently until tortellini is done, 8-10 minutes.
  5. Stir in basil, salt and pepper.
