Project: Preemie Hats for Babies in the NICU
More than a half a million babies in America are born premature each year and Stitching Up The World would like to make them warm and comfortable by making hats for those in need. We will be collecting hats over the next few months to donate to NICU centers around the area.
Project Guidelines
- Please use soft baby, sport or 3 ply yarn when making the hats. Thick or chunky will not work. NO WOOL PLEASE!
- Hats can be knit or crochet with any favorite preemie pattern.
- Hat sizes are as follows for the height of the hat. They can be adjusted by turning up the brim as needed to gain the size.
- XS – 3 ½ to 4 inches
- SM – 4 inches
- MD – 4 ½ to 5 inches
- LG – 5 to 5 ½ inches
